Apartment Sa Riera
Holiday apartment

on the Costa Brava

for rent

The apartment

We are renting a modern 4-room apartment on one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline on the Costa Brava. The apartment is just a 5-minute walk from Sa Riera beach, a former fishing village with a supermarket, several restaurants and beach bars, and a boat rental. The medieval town of Begur, known for its castle, Cuban colonial-style houses, and panoramic location high above the coast, is only a 5-minute drive away.

The approximately 80-square-meter apartment is part of an architecturally unique terraced development, situated slightly elevated above the town center, just below a pine forest. The development features two swimming pools and an underground parking garage, from which the apartment can be conveniently accessed by elevator. The apartment itself boasts a modern layout with an open-plan kitchen and a spacious living area with large windows offering views of the lush Mediterranean landscape. It also includes two double bedrooms – one with an en-suite bathroom – a single bedroom, and an additional bathroom.

The outdoor area is very spacious at 60 square meters. From here, you have a breathtaking view of the sea and the surrounding wooded hills. Protected from prying eyes, you can enjoy the evening sun here, while the sound of the sea can be heard in the distance.

Sa Riera and Begur

Sa Riera is the largest of Begur's eight bays. The beach's name comes from the stream that divides it in two. In one of these bays, you'll find a cluster of boats moored on the sand, strategically positioned just waiting to head out to sea as soon as possible. It's easily accessible from Begur town center by car or bus. The beach has an access ramp, accessible toilets and showers, as well as numerous bars and restaurants.

Directly from the beach, the famous coastal hiking trail Camí de Ronda leads along the wild coves of the Costa Brava. A 15-minute walk north takes you to the secluded, idyllic Platja de l'Illa Roja beach (see picture at the top), and from there to the 10-kilometer-long sandy beach of Pals. To the south, the trail connects some of the most beautiful coves of the Costa Brava: Aiguafreda, Sa Tuna, Platja Fonda, Fornells, and finally Aiguablava .

The small town of Begur sits perched two kilometers further up the coastline. Its traditional town center is dominated by the ruins of a simple 15th-century castle. The old city walls and five defensive towers, built between the 16th and 17th centuries, can still be admired today. The numerous Casas de Indianos are also particularly characteristic. These are mansions built in the colonial style; Indianos were the name given to Spaniards who had become wealthy in America and later returned home.

The environment

Begur is located in the province of Girona – one of the most charming and diverse regions of Spain. Besides the attractive capital city of Girona (reachable by car in an hour) and the city of Figueres further north (home to the world-famous Dalí Museum), the immediate vicinity of Begur boasts numerous picturesque medieval towns such as Pals, Peratallada, Palau Sator, and Torroella de Montgrí (all within a 20-minute drive). The nearby town of Palafrugell (a 15-minute drive) offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, and supermarkets, as well as a market hall with fresh produce daily.

A little further north, near the French border, a detour to the famous town of Cadaqués is worthwhile; Picasso, Dalí, and Miró used to spend their summer holidays there. Heading south along the coast, the towns of Tamariu, Calella de Palafrugell, Palamós, Platja d'Aro, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, and Tossa de Mar, with its spectacular castle right on the sea, beckon. Those who prefer a more mountainous landscape can explore the volcanic region of La Garrotxa with its historic towns of Besalú and Castelfollit de la Roca. Further north, the Pyrenees await, offering numerous ski slopes in winter and countless hiking trails in summer.
